Dinosaur Workshop
Our Dinosaur workshop is incredibly hands-on and engaging.
Sessions
- Introduction - A Stone-Age homo-sapien will wow the children with their animalistic behaviour and strange language! They will show the children some of their weapons and tools and try to communicate with them without using a common language!
- Bones Investigation - The children will get to handle a plethora of real animal bones and decide what they are and which animal they have come from.
- Cave Drawings - Cave drawings will be looked at and then the children will emulate these using chalk and charcoal on slate boards.
- Artefact Investigation - The children will be shown a large range of Stone-Age artefacts, including flint tools, animal furs and Stone-Age equipment. Depending on number of classes, children will also get to handle some of these.
- Tools/Weapons Making - Using knapped flint, sticks, twine and feathers, children will make Stone-Age knives, spears, arrows, hammers, drills, axes and anything else they think up!
- Hunting/Archery - Using safety arrows, the children will get to have a go at archery! The targets are common animals that the Stone-Age people hunted: wild boar, stags, pheasants, badgers and hares.
For an example of how a workshop would work for 1, 2 or 3 classes, see the schedules below.
