The workshop begins with the arrival of a Royal Greek Guard. Dressed in full armour, your workshop leader introduces the children to life as a Greek soldier, explaining how they first served as a hoplite warrior and exploring the rivalry and relationship between Athens and Sparta. Throughout the day, pupils take part in a series of exciting and highly interactive sessions designed to bring Ancient Greece to life. Battle Formations and Tactics The highlight of the day! Each child is equipped with their own spear and shield as they learn about the famous battle tactics and formations used by the Ancient Greeks. Working together, they recreate the mighty phalanx formation and discover how Greek armies conquered lands far and wide. Ancient Greek Board Games Children enjoy playing traditional wooden board games, carefully handcrafted to replicate those used by the Ancient Greeks over 2,000 years ago. This fun and engaging session provides a fascinating insight into how people spent their leisure time in the ancient world. Greek Scribe Become an Ancient Greek writer! Using reed pens, ink and genuine papyrus paper, pupils learn to write in Ancient Greek just as scribes would have done thousands of years ago. City Management Can your class lead Athens to success? In this exciting, interactive session, children become members of the Athenian council during the Peloponnesian War. Faced with real historical scenarios, they must make important decisions that will determine the fate of their city. Wise choices bring prosperity, while poor decisions could lead to disaster. Will they guide Athens to victory? Filled with role-play, artefacts and hands-on activities, this unforgettable workshop gives children a truly immersive experience and brings the world of Ancient Greece vividly to life. |
