Tudor Workshop
For this workshop, we can cater for up to 4 classes for the whole day (9am - 3pm)!
Travel back to the age of kings and queens, feasting and pageantry, and discover the fascinating world of Tudor England. Packed with authentic artefacts, lively demonstrations and exciting hands-on activities, this immersive workshop gives children a memorable insight into life during one of Britain's most famous periods of history.
The day begins with a spectacular introduction from either King Henry VIII or Queen Elizabeth I.
Throughout the day, pupils take part in a series of engaging sessions designed to bring Tudor times vividly to life.
Sessions:
Weapons and Armour Investigation
Children explore an extensive collection of replica Tudor weapons and armour, discovering how soldiers and nobles equipped themselves during the sixteenth century. They are encouraged to handle the artefacts and even pose for photographs holding some truly impressive Tudor weaponry.
Tudor Dancing
Step into the Tudor court and learn some of the most popular dances of the period. Led by our professionally trained workshop leader, children discover the importance of music and dance in Tudor society while enjoying this energetic and entertaining session.
Tudor Board Games
How did people entertain themselves 500 years ago? Children learn to play two popular Tudor games before spending the remainder of the session putting their skills to the test. This enjoyable activity offers a fascinating glimpse into everyday life in Tudor England.
Archery
The English longbowmen were renowned throughout the world for their skill. Can your class match the achievements of their Tudor ancestors? Using modern bows and safe suction arrows, children take aim at targets as though they were out on a Tudor hunting expedition, developing their coordination and enjoying one of the highlights of the day.
Filled with demonstrations, authentic equipment and hands-on experiences, this unforgettable workshop provides children with a unique opportunity to explore the people, culture and traditions of Tudor England.
