It was depicted in Greek sculpture more than any other helmet – romantically associated with the glories of the past. The Greek goddess Athena is frequently depicted wearing a Corinthian-style helmet. The Corinthian Helmet afforded excellent protection for its wearer but was both expensive to make and uncomfortable to wear. It also restricted hearing and vision and gradually gave way to a more open-faced but less protective style of helmet. £90 + VAT |
