Web-chats

Web-chat features:
  • Expert-level knowledge on the period of history covered
  • Presenters can be in period dress and show a few props from the time
  • Pitched at primary school level
  • Easy access and secure web-chat via Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet
  • Web-chat lasts for 1 hour (please enquire for a price)
  • Unlimited number of children can attend from the school (although we recommend that each class has a web-chat as this provides the children with the most intimate and valuable experience)

    TERMS
    Once the booking has been confirmed, it cannot be cancelled. An invoice will be sent to the address provided at the earliest opportunity, and the invoice must be settled within 30 days after the date of the web-chat.

'Leigh delivered an online chat to our children today, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Despite it being online, he was extremely personable and he interacted brilliantly with the children, showing off artefacts, sharing loads of interesting information and answering questions. On behalf of everyone in my class, I wanted to thank you for your thoroughly entertaining and informative lessons today. 

I know how difficult it is to run a virtual session, but I think it went really well and there were minimal technical issues. The children particularly enjoyed the first session, they loved seeing all the weapons and hearing all the gruesome details.

As an international school that follows the British curriculum, it is often hard to immerse our students in the topics that we study. Whilst we work on topics such as The Vikings, The Romans and Space, there are no trips that we can take our students on to fully experience these things.
One silver lining of the coronavirus pandemic was that we found historic workshops who delivered a virtual session as a launch for our topic. We had two sessions with Bjorn the Beardless who was an expert on the Vikings! The session lasted approximately 60 minutes and the children loved every second. Bjorn (Leigh) was extremely knowledgeable and kept the children engaged throughout. The session was done in two parts – part one where Bjorn delivered information about the Vikings and part two where he answered questions that the children had come up with. Both parts were extremely useful, and the children learned a lot!
Now that we know historic workshops can deliver such fantastic sessions virtually, we will continue to use them for our topic launches.
